Google appoints Pakistani professional as gaming industry lead

Pakistan’s tech and gaming scene has just hit a major milestone on the global stage. Fasieh Mehta, a respected industry expert and passionate supporter of Pakistan’s creative economy, has officially joined Google as the Industry Head for Mobile Apps & Gaming – Pakistan. He’ll be working out of Google’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.

Before this, Fasieh worked at Epic Games, where he represented Pakistan and played a key role in spotlighting the country’s growing gaming industry to the world.

His appointment is a proud moment not just for him but for the entire country. It shows that the world is finally recognizing the amazing work coming out of Pakistan’s app development and gaming sector. In recent years, Pakistani developers have launched chart-topping apps and globally loved games—and now, big tech companies are paying attention.

Google didn’t hire Fasieh through a quiet backdoor deal—it conducted a competitive 10-month recruitment process. The company publicly listed the role and, like all its hires, put candidates through multiple rounds of interviews and in-depth evaluations.

Google was looking for someone who could truly represent Pakistan’s mobile apps and gaming space at a global level—and Fasieh was that person.

In a personal note shared online, he described the job as more than just a new role—he sees it as a chance to give back to the community he has always believed in.

“Pakistan is brimming with talent. The world just needs to see it,” he wrote.

Fasieh is now in a position to help developers, publishers, and studios in Pakistan grow their ideas, reach wider audiences, and turn local wins into global success stories.

He also shared how meaningful this new chapter is for him. Over the years, he’s visited Google offices in Mountain View, London, Dubai, and Singapore—sometimes as a guest, sometimes as a partner, and always as an admirer. But this time, he walked through the doors wearing a Google badge of his own.

His message to Pakistan’s tech community is simple and inspiring: he’s here to listen, support, and build with you.

Google’s decision to create a role focused solely on Pakistan’s mobile and gaming ecosystem also sends a powerful message it shows how seriously they’re taking the region’s potential. With a young, mobile-first population and a fast-growing creative economy, Pakistan is becoming a market to watch.

For Pakistan, this isn’t just another success story; it’s a sign of real progress. Our talent isn’t just part of the global conversation anymore, it’s helping lead it.
