A globally collaborative research paper has won the Best Paper Award at the First International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Computing (ICAAIC-2025), held during the 3rd Global Research Congress (GRC-2025) at Sindh Madrasah-ut-Islam University (SMIU).

Titled “Architectural Patterns and Emerging Challenges (2019–2025),” the paper was authored by Hamza Ali (NED University, Karachi), Douglas Sales Alves Amante (Federal University of Lavras, Brazil, and University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy), Ubaidullah (Logical Services LLC, USA), and Dr. Imtiaz Hussain (SMIU).

The study stands out for its extensive international collaboration and a thorough analysis of significant AI engineering issues, including trustworthiness, verification, data governance, and the risks linked to generative AI.

ICAAIC-2025 was organized around the theme “Ethical Computing and Artificial Intelligence for Social Good”, attracting researchers from over ten countries.

More than 30 peer-reviewed papers focused on responsible AI and advanced computing systems were presented during the conference.

The GRC-2025 congress brought together education professionals, policymakers, industry representatives, and students, fostering valuable discussions.

Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Sindh’s Minister for Universities and Boards, praised SMIU for its academic progress and encouraged the university to formally share the congress’s key outcomes with the Sindh government.

He also celebrated SMIU’s rich history as a center of learning inspired by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Dr. Mujeeb Sehrai, Vice Chancellor of SMIU, congratulated the research team on winning the award, emphasizing that this achievement underscores the university’s increasing global recognition in ethical AI research.

He noted that GRC-2025 received more than 400 submissions, with 228 being peer-reviewed research papers.

Dr. Imtiaz Hussain proudly accepted the award on behalf of the team from Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sehrai and Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu, marking it as a source of immense pride for Pakistan’s AI community
