Atif Ikram will work with the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Revenue to resolve these issues quickly

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has welcomed the decision by the Finance Ministry to revise the Anomaly Committee Business.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh has been appointed as its co-chairman. The committee will review issues and gaps found in the Federal Budget 2026–27.

The main goal of the committee is to identify and fix problems in the budget. It will look at tax issues, policy gaps, macroeconomic policymaking and private sector execution, and other financial matters that affect businesses. The government aims to better align fiscal policies with real business conditions in the country.

FPCCI said the inclusion of its leadership is a positive step. It helps improve coordination between the government and the private sector.

Atif Ikram Sheikh said timely correction of budget issues is important for industrial growth, exports, and economic stability. He also said businesses are already facing high costs and financial pressure.

He added that the committee will allow traders and industries to present their concerns with proper evidence. It will help highlight tax burdens, regulatory issues, and other problems in the finance bill that need correction.

Mr. Arif Ikram Sheikh explained that the Anomaly Committee Business will serve as the primary institutional mechanism for the trade and industrial sectors to present evidence based cases regarding unintended tax burdens, regulatory bottlenecks.

FPCCI officials said their experts are already preparing a detailed list of budget related issues affecting manufacturing, exports, and other sectors. They have also invited all chambers and trade bodies to submit their concerns to the FPCCI office.

As co-chairman, Atif Ikram Sheikh will work with the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Revenue to resolve these issues quickly before the final approval of the finance act.
