KARACHI: A first of its kind recreational amusement place ‘Funclusion’ has opened for neurodivergent children of all abilities in the port city of Karachi providing a safe environment with a variety of activities.
At Funclusion, neurodivergent children can experience different fun recreational pastimes designed in accordance with their sensory needs.
It is worth noting that the opening ceremony of Funclusion was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
While speaking to Geo News, he praised the inclusive initiative and said: “Funclusion is a type of recreational place which has been exclusively designed for the children of all abilities.”
“These children will have a safe, comfortable and friendly environment in this place,” he added.
Funclusion’s founder Dr Maheen Noorani while speaking to Geo News said: “We created Funclusion because Pakistan did not have any recreational place of this nature.”
Neurodivergent children can engage, explore, and enjoy leisure experiences tailoured to their unique needs at Funclusion.
The place ensures a predictable and comfortable experience, minimising sensory overload and allowing visitors to make their own choices in a safe, welcoming setting, unlike traditional recreational spaces.
Moreover, Funclusion serves as a community hub where parents, caregivers, and educators receive guidance on supporting neurodivergent children beyond a play area.
The place offers quiet zones to allow all visitors to enjoy their experience without overstimulation, a sensory-rich environment designed with a variety of activities to suit different preferences, trained staff to ensure safety and provide assistance when needed
People belonging to different occupations said that Funclusion is a community centre, where on the basis of different activities, scenery areas, teaching staff and entry slides have been included.
They also added that the place has been designed so that every child can experience these delightful activities.
