The Federal Minister for Health has inaugurated Karachi’s first Digital Health Center at the Federal Government Dispensary, Civil Aviation. The center was formally opened by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal.

The newly established facility will provide medical treatment through advanced telemedicine services, allowing doctors based abroad to examine patients via live video calls. Patients visiting the center will also receive free medicines. This initiative is especially important for patients suffering from complex diseases such as breast, liver, and lung cancer.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the federal health minister said the main objective of the project is to reduce overcrowding in major hospitals and provide quality healthcare facilities closer to people’s homes. He stated that Pakistan has increasingly become a “patient-producing country,” where people often visit large hospitals even for minor illnesses, putting unnecessary pressure on the healthcare system.

Syed Mustafa Kamal added that strengthening primary healthcare centers is essential so that citizens can access proper medical treatment near their homes. He emphasized that this is Karachi’s first digital health center, and similar facilities will be established across the country in the future to ensure timely and quality healthcare for all.

The health minister also stressed the importance of vaccination and primary care in preventing diseases. He informed that an agreement was signed recently under which medicines worth Rs. 9.8 million will be provided to 745 patients suffering from breast, liver, and lung cancer in Islamabad.
