FIFA has officially announced the prize money for the 2026 World Cup, and this time the rewards are much higher than before.
According to the announcement, the team that wins the 2026 World Cup will receive $50 million. The team that loses in the final will also earn a significant amount, taking home $33 million.
The team finishing in third place will be awarded $29 million, while the fourth-placed team will receive $27 million. Teams that finish between fifth and eighth place will each get $19 million.

Teams placed from ninth to sixteenth will earn $15 million each. Similarly, teams finishing between seventeenth and thirty-second place will receive $11 million, while every team ranked from thirty-third to forty-eighth will still be awarded $9 million.
The 2026 World Cup is also special because it will feature 48 teams for the first time. FIFA says the goal is not only to reward the champions but also to ensure that every country participating benefits from the tournament.
Fans and football officials have welcomed the decision, saying the increased prize money will make the competition even more exciting and help promote football development across different countries.
