ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Adha is being observed across Pakistan with deep religious devotion, as Muslims commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS).

The day began with Eid congregations in mosques, Eidgahs and open grounds nationwide, where special prayers were offered for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, as well as for peace, stability and prosperity in Pakistan.

In major cities, large gatherings were witnessed at key religious venues. The main congregation in Islamabad was held at Faisal Mosque, attended by federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats and members of civil society.

In Lahore, the central Eid prayer took place at the historic Badshahi Mosque, while Rawalpindi’s main gathering was held at Liaquat Bagh. In Karachi, thousands attended major congregations at Gulshan-e-Jinnah, Nishtar Park, National Stadium and Eidgah Nazimabad.

Religious scholars, in their sermons, highlighted the philosophy of sacrifice and the teachings of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), urging Muslims to uphold values of obedience, patience, sincerity and compassion. They also stressed social responsibility and support for underprivileged communities.

Following the prayers, citizens performed animal sacrifices in accordance with Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi. The meat was distributed among relatives, neighbours and deserving families, while households continued traditional Eid gatherings throughout the day.

Special prayers were offered for national security, economic stability and global Muslim unity. Clerics also expressed concern over ongoing conflicts in various regions, calling for peace and humanitarian relief for affected populations.

Authorities have deployed comprehensive security arrangements across the country to maintain law and order during the Eid holidays. Police personnel remain stationed outside mosques and public gathering points, while waste management systems have been activated to ensure timely disposal of offal and sanitation control during the three-day festival.
