The Egyptian player defeats Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal in straight games to secure the Pakistan Navy Fleet Club Open title.
KARACHI: Egypt’s Salman Khalil secured the Pakistan Navy Fleet Club Open International Squash Championship title after defeating Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal in the final at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.
The victory marked a major achievement for the Egyptian player and highlighted the growing competitiveness of international squash events hosted in Pakistan.
The third-seeded Salman Khalil produced a strong performance against Nasir Iqbal, winning the final in straight games with a score of 14-12, 11-3, and 13-11 to claim the championship trophy.
The tournament was organised by the Sindh Squash Association, bringing together national and international players in a competitive showcase of squash talent.

Commander Karachi Faisal Amin attended the final as the chief guest, while squash legend Jahangir Khan and former governor Moinuddin Haider were also present at the ceremony.
Vice Admiral Faisal Amin appreciated the successful organisation of the championship and said the Pakistan Navy would continue supporting sports initiatives to promote athletic talent in the country.
Sindh Squash Association President Adnan Asad highlighted plans for future squash competitions and announced that several tournaments with substantial prize money would be organised in the coming months. He urged players to remain focused and continue working hard to achieve success at national and international levels.
Speaking at the event, squash legend Jahangir Khan expressed hope that Pakistani players would qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics and compete for a gold medal.
He said young athletes aiming to reach the standards set by squash greats such as Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan must show dedication, discipline, and consistent effort.
The successful conclusion of the championship has renewed attention on squash development in Pakistan and the importance of providing more international-level opportunities for emerging players.
