An Australian diver has achieved a record-breaking feat as she walked 370 feet underwater along the bottom of a swimming pool.
The diver, Amber Bourke, from Queensland, walked further than the length of an American football field as she achieved the Guinness World Record for the longest underwater walk by a female in one breath.
In a footage, Bourke can be seen walking along the bottom of the pool with her hips bent, giving her body an 90-degree angle. Her torso was flat but her feet did all the work, according to Guinness World Records.
The diver stumbled a few times but luckily regained her feet and kept going.
When she reached the end of the pool, she tapped her hands and feet against the wall and turned around, continuing her feat in the other direction.
She completed two full laps at the bottom of the pool and a bit more before she came up for air. As she was still in the pool and tried to catch her breath, the distance was measured and announced it was “a new world record”.
“I am a freediving instructor and have been freediving for over 10 years. I wanted to do this both for my own sense of achievement — it has always been a dream of mine to hold a Guinness World Records title — and also to raise money for the Australian Marine Conservation Society in the process,” Bourke said.
