KARACHI: The Commissioner of Karachi has summoned a follow up meeting on milk prices on October 1, 2025 which will be attended by representatives from Department of Food, Livestock, Water Board and other organizations.
The meeting will review the new milk pricing, implementation of previous decisions.
According to a spokesperson for the Commissioner’s Office, a major food safety concern has emerged in Karachi as officials discovered that milk being sold in the city is tainted with hazardous substances, including salt, sugar, detergent, and water.
According to a spokesperson for the Commissioner’s Office, an immediate crackdown has been ordered against those involved in selling contaminated milk.
The Commissioner of Karachi has directed all deputy commissioners to launch joint operations in coordination with the Food Authority.
During a briefing to the Commissioner, the Food Authority revealed that laboratory tests showed adulteration in 71 out of 127 milk samples collected from various locations across the city.
