    COAS Munir, Turkish President review regional security challenges

    Field Marshal Munir met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss matters of mutual interest.

    RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is on an official visit to Türkiye aimed at strengthening the longstanding strategic and defense partnership between the two countries.

    According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security and ways to further enhance bilateral defense cooperation.

    The discussions highlighted both countries’ shared commitment to expanding their strategic partnership amid an evolving regional security environment.

    At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, Munir was received with a guard of honor and held talks with Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff.

    The two military leaders exchanged views on regional security developments and professional military cooperation.

    During the meeting, Gen. Bayraktaroğlu awarded Field Marshal Munir the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral military ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

    Munir also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he met Commander Gen. Metin Tokel, and later paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by laying a floral wreath at Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of the founder of modern Türkiye.

    According to the ISPR, the visit reflects the commitment of Pakistan and Türkiye to further deepen their multifaceted defense relationship and continue working together for regional peace and stability.
