China’s Unitree has unveiled a new high speed humanoid robot called “Superman” ahead of its stock market debut in Shanghai, highlighting the company’s growing role in China’s robotics industry.
The Hangzhou based company said on Monday, August 17, that it developed the robot in just over three months and that it can jump 2 meters while reaching a top speed of 12.66 meters per second.
Unitree is scheduled to begin trading in Shanghai on Wednesday after raising 6.1 billion yuan, or about $905 million, in an initial public offering last week. The listing will make Unitree the first general purpose robotics company to list on China’s mainland stock market.

The company’s Shanghai debut comes as the World Robot Conference opens in Beijing. The timing is expected to draw further attention to Unitree, whose humanoid robots have gained global attention for their ability to run, dance and perform martial arts.
The company’s public offering attracted strong interest from retail investors. The IPO was more than 8,000 times oversubscribed, setting a record for Shanghai’s technology focused STAR Market.
The company has also attracted attention through its founder, Wang Xingxing, who gained national recognition after securing a front row seat at a summit hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping for leading technology entrepreneurs last year.
Unitree is backed by several major Chinese technology companies, including Tencent, Alibaba and DeepSeek. The company’s upcoming stock market debut has also attracted attention in offshore derivative markets, where trading has pointed to expectations of a strong opening.
With its IPO and new robot drawing investor and public attention, Unitree is entering a significant period as it seeks to expand its position in China’s growing robotics sector.
