WASHINGTON: The United States has delivered a strong warning to Iran, making it clear that any misstep regarding the ceasefire agreement could trigger renewed military action.

United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine addressed a high-stakes news briefing, outlining Washington’s escalating military posture against Iran, including a sweeping naval blockade.

General Dan Caine confirmed that the blockade is now in effect, targeting all vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports, regardless of nationality. He stated that the operation, which began earlier this week, aims to halt Iran’s oil supply and disrupt its maritime activity.

According to US officials, 13 vessels have already been turned back as enforcement intensifies. “Any ship attempting to defy orders will face action, including the possible use of force,” Caine warned, adding that US forces remain ready to resume full-scale operations at any moment.

He further said the blockade extends across Iran’s coastline and ports, with strict restrictions imposed on all maritime traffic linked to the country.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that the United States will maintain the blockade for as long as necessary and reiterated Washington’s firm stance that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons.

He claimed that key elements of Iran’s naval, air, and missile capabilities have already been neutralized.

Hegseth also issued a direct warning, stating that if Iran refuses to enter into an agreement, the US is fully prepared for further military action. “We are locked and loaded,” he said, urging Tehran to make “wise decisions” and accept a deal.

Referring to strategic waterways, Hegseth asserted that the US has the capability to control the Strait of Hormuz and keep it blocked using only a fraction of its naval strength.

He also criticized sections of the media for underreporting US military successes, while praising American troops and urging them to remain steadfast.

The briefing reflects a sharp escalation in tensions, with Washington signaling both sustained pressure and readiness for potential conflict if diplomatic efforts fail.
