CDC introduces WhatsApp e-voting for shareholders
In a major step towards digitalizing the voting system, CDC Share Registrar Services Limited (CDCSRSL), a subsidiary of Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited, has launched e-voting through WhatsApp.
This innovation aligns with the government’s push for nationwide digital transformation, especially after the recent approval of the Digital Nation Bill in the Senate.
According to a company press release, WhatsApp e-voting aims to make the process simpler and more user-friendly for shareholders and members. By using one of the most popular messaging apps, this system ensures greater voter participation, transparency, and security against rigging.
CDCSRSL has been at the forefront of technology-driven services, launching a web-based voting system in 2017. The latest WhatsApp e-voting feature continues this trend, allowing individuals to register and vote conveniently using their smartphones from anywhere.
The WhatsApp e-voting system has already been successfully tested in recent elections for major corporate clients. The feature has received positive industry feedback, highlighting its reliability and efficiency.
