Cardi B fires back at critics over her music and promotion

Cardi B has responded to fans who criticize how she promotes her music, saying complaints about her releases and music videos will not make her work harder.

The rapper addressed the criticism during a recent X Spaces conversation, explaining why she does not give every song the same level of promotion. During the conversation, Cardi questioned why some of her songs receive music videos and more promotional attention while others do not.

She made it clear that criticism will not change the way she approaches her work. Instead of encouraging her to work harder, Cardi said complaints can make her want to step away from music.

“When y’all complain, it doesn’t make me want to sit down. No, it makes me want to say,” Cardi said. “How about that? That’s the type of person I am,” she added.

Cardi also explained that not every music project needs to receive the same treatment. She said her releases do not all need identical visuals, music videos or overall aesthetics.

“Not everything is going to have the same aesthetic as the other ones,” Cardi said. The rapper also acknowledged that she has not been spending as much time in the studio recently.

Cardi said criticism and negative comments do not affect her motivation in the way some people might expect. Instead, she said her instincts can make her want to stay in bed and spend time with her children.

Cardi released her second studio album, Am I the Drama?, in September 2025. The album arrived seven years after her previous album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart during its first week of release.
