In a revelation that has left fans stunned and heartbroken, horror legend Bruce Campbell has disclosed that he is battling an “incurable” form of cancer.

The 67-year-old star, celebrated worldwide for his fearless screen presence and enduring charisma, shared the deeply personal news with characteristic candour and resilience.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Campbell described his condition as “treatable, not curable,” approaching the difficult announcement with his trademark wit.

“Hi folks, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an ‘opportunity,’ so let’s go with that I’m having one of those,” he wrote. “It’s also called a type of cancer that’s ‘treatable’ not ‘curable.’ I apologize if that’s a shock it was to me too.”

Although he did not disclose the specific type of cancer, Campbell made it clear that treatment will require him to temporarily step back from conventions, public appearances, and professional commitments.

Despite the gravity of the diagnosis, the actor struck a tone of determination. “Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b**** and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while,” he assured fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering loyalty.

Campbell also revealed that his immediate focus will be on recovery over the coming months, with hopes of touring this fall in support of his upcoming film, Ernie & Emma.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Campbell rose to cult fame through The Evil Dead, directed by Sam Raimi.

His portrayal of chainsaw-wielding hero Ash Williams became a defining figure in horror cinema, later extending into the television series Ash vs. Evil Dead. Beyond the franchise, his credits include Bubba Ho-Tep and Burn Notice, further cementing his legacy in pop culture.

Though he retired from the role of Ash in 2018, Campbell has remained actively involved behind the scenes as a producer, continuing to shape the franchise that defined his career.

As messages of support pour in from fans around the globe, Campbell’s announcement stands as a testament to his resilience the same fearless spirit that made him a legend on screen now guiding him through one of life’s most challenging battles.
