Barry Manilow was forced to cancel his concert at Lexington’s Rupp Arena at the last minute on Tuesday night, with his team citing “unforeseen circumstances.”
The announcement came at 6:19 p.m. ET, just 41 minutes before the 83-year-old singer was scheduled to take the stage as part of his ongoing “Last Concerts” farewell tour.
Rupp Arena confirmed the postponement in its own statement, adding that all previously purchased tickets will be honoured once a new date is announced.
Some fans reported already being at the venue when the cancellation was announced, with several unaware the show had been called off.
This marks the second time Manilow has had to postpone this particular Lexington date.
He was originally scheduled to perform there back in March, but pushed the show after his doctor advised he wasn’t yet ready to handle a full 90-minute set following surgery for lung cancer.
Manilow had revealed his diagnosis in December, after a cancerous spot was detected during treatment for a lengthy bout of bronchitis, and has spent much of the year gradually working his way back to full touring form, rescheduling a string of arena dates throughout the winter and spring as he recovered.
