Ana de Armas compares American and European cinema

Ana de Armas just admitted she believes American and European cinemas are completely different.

The 37-year-old actress, who was born in Cuba and has now made quite a name for herself in the Hollywood industry, appeared on Hot Ones and said, “The influence of American cinema in Europe is stronger I would say.”

“Europeans like European films I would say. I think Europeans also – or Spanish people – have a pretty wide spectrum of, they know about cinema, and they have good taste,” she added.

Additionally, reflecting on her career success, Ana mentioned, “You know, going to Los Angeles or going to Hollywood, was never actually a plan for me. I moved to Spain and then from Spain to Los Angeles, but it was just kind of happening naturally. I just never planned on it.”

Expressing what it felt like to be working with the likes of Keanu Reeves and Daniel Craig, she said, “To be on set with them was always kind of like a pinch-me moment every time. And I’ve worked with really, really amazing people.”

This comes after the actress revealed that she found it very easy to relate with Marilyn Monroe, whose role she portrayed in the film, Blonde.

“If you put Marilyn Monroe the movie star aside, she’s just an actress trying to navigate life and this system, which is so hard to navigate for anybody. On top of that, you add this point of view of Andrew’s, which was to see that through her trauma,” she said.

“I truly thought it was going to do justice to a more dimensional human being, because I wouldn’t want to be remembered just for one thing. I am more than just an actress on the cover of a magazine,” Ana de Armas concluded.
