Amazon has just taken a big step in revolutionizing music discovery with the launch of Alexa+, its new AI-powered assistant. Available now in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android users with Early Access, Alexa+ goes far beyond the basic commands we’ve come to know from earlier Alexa versions.
This upgrade allows users to engage in much more natural, fluid conversations with the assistant, making music discovery not only easier but also more personalized.
Whether you’re looking to dive deep into an artist’s influences, understand the meaning behind a song, or even ask for specific lyrics, Alexa+ is designed to be your ultimate music companion.
Unlike its previous iterations, which were limited to simple voice commands, Alexa+ offers a more interactive and conversational experience.
Now, users can ask detailed questions about their favorite music, ranging from an artist’s background to the specific lyrics of a song. Alexa+ is also able to create custom playlists based on user requests. For example, you can now ask Alexa to “Make a playlist of 2010s hits featuring Nicki Minaj” or suggest songs that fit particular moods or situations.
But Alexa+ isn’t just about music. It can also assist with everyday tasks like booking restaurant reservations or ordering groceries, expanding its capabilities beyond just music discovery.
Early data from over a million users reveals that Alexa+ is sparking much higher engagement. Listeners are exploring songs three times more frequently than with the earlier versions of Alexa and are spending 70% more time listening to music based on Alexa+’s personalized recommendations.
The new feature is available across all Amazon Music subscription plans, and can be accessed by tapping the “an” icon in the lower-right corner of the app.
This launch adds to Amazon Music’s ongoing AI-driven features, such as weekly AI-curated playlists, AI-enhanced search, and the “Explore” function, which offers deeper insights into favorite artists and tracks.
With this introduction, Alexa+ positions Amazon to strengthen its competitive edge against Spotify, especially after the latter’s integration of ChatGPT. Alexa+ solidifies Amazon’s commitment to transforming music discovery by making it more conversational, intuitive, and personal for every listener.
