TIRANA: Albania’s artificial intelligence–powered minister, Dela, is set to “give birth” to 83 digital assistants, according to Prime Minister Edi Rama, who made the announcement during the Berlin Global Dialogue Conference.
According to international media reports, Prime Minister Rama clarified that the “83 children” are not real but AI-generated digital aides designed to assist the 83 members of parliament (MPs) from the ruling Socialist Party.
Each of these AI “children” will serve as a personal assistant, attending parliamentary sessions, recording proceedings, taking notes, and even suggesting recommendations to lawmakers.
“For instance,” the prime minister explained, “if a member steps out for coffee during a session, their AI assistant will keep them updated on the discussion and even suggest a counter-argument if needed.”
Rama added that these AI assistants will be aware of their “mother” Dela, and will be fully aligned with European Union legal frameworks, becoming fully operational by 2026.
Earlier this year, Albania made global headlines by introducing Dela, the world’s first AI-generated government minister, presented in traditional Albanian attire. During her first address, Dela stated, “I am not here to replace humans but to assist them.”
