Faisal frequently appears on television programs to discuss marriage, family life, and social issues.

KARACHI: Senior Pakistani actress Saba Faisal has faced criticism on social media after her recent remarks regarding the role of newlywed brides in their in-laws’ homes.

Known for her extensive career in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, Faisal frequently appears on television programs to discuss marriage, family life, and social issues. Her latest comments came during a morning show on a private  channel, where she addressed expectations placed on new brides.

During the show, Faisal stated that after a wedding, an in-laws’ home is usually filled with guests and responsibilities, most of which fall on the mother-in-law, while the newlywed bride does not immediately carry major duties.

She suggested that if a bride wishes to rest, she should politely seek permission from her mother-in-law or married sisters-in-law, rather than issuing direct demands, which may not be well received in traditional households.

Faisal also emphasized that tone and approach matter, adding that even the strictest mother-in-law would likely grant rest if requested respectfully.

The remarks, however, sparked a strong reaction online. Many social media users criticised her views as outdated and unfair, with some questioning her continued appearances on morning shows.

Comments included: “If you are talking about hostel or in-laws’ house?” and “She should avoid morning shows as she always makes controversial statements.”
