Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said  that the provincial government has formed a judicial commission to investigate the deadly attack in Ziarat that killed 35 people, including police personnel.

Bugti informed the decision during a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, where the two leaders discussed the security, administrative and political situation in Balochistan, according to an official statement.

The chief minister said he had personally met the families of those martyred in the Ziarat attack to offer condolences and address their concerns.

His remarks came a day after the provincial government reached an agreement with a protest committee that had organized a province-wide shutter-down strike over the attacks in Ziarat and Hanna Urak.

Under the agreement, the protest committee ended its sit-in in Quetta after the government pledged to meet the families’ demands and take measures to improve law and order.

The two sides agreed to hold a joint meeting of opposition parties and victims’ families under the chief minister’s chairmanship to review the security situation.

The government also agreed to officially recognize those killed as martyrs under existing policy, provide compensation and educational support for their children, and name public buildings in their honor.

A separate committee, headed by the provincial revenue minister, will be formed to address public grievances related to revenue matters.

Bugti said an all-parties conference would be convened soon to discuss Balochistan’s challenges, adding that political parties outside parliament would also be invited to participate.

Bilawal praised the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police personnel, expressing solidarity with the families of those killed in the recent attacks.

He said dialogue remained the only viable path to resolving Balochistan’s political issues and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to engaging with all political stakeholders.

The PPP chairman also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism, saying the nation stands united against militancy.
