ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced a revised electoral timetable, confirming key deadlines and procedural steps leading up to the general elections.

According to Secretary Election Commission Raja Shakeel Khan, the deadline for submission of nomination papers has been set for June 23 at 5:00 PM. Scrutiny of nomination papers will begin on June 24 at 8:00 AM, after which a list of valid candidates will be issued the same day.

Appeals against decisions of Returning Officers (ROs) can be filed from June 25 to June 28. The Election Commission will hear these appeals on June 29 and 30, while decisions on the appeals will be announced on July 1 and 2.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until 2:00 PM on July 3. The final list of candidates will be published on July 4, followed by the allocation of election symbols on July 5. The final list along with symbols will also be officially issued on the same day.

Polling for the AJK Legislative Assembly general elections will take place on July 27. Officials confirmed that candidates from the Poonch district will submit nomination papers to their respective returning officers, where scrutiny will also be conducted locally.
