LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Sahibzada Farhan as captain of men’s T20 squad for the 2026 Asian Games, while Abdul Samad will serve as vice-captain.

The PCB on Wednesday announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, which will be held in Aichi, Japan. The men’s T20 International competition is scheduled to begin on Sept. 24, with cricket medal matches set for Oct. 3.

Farhan, 30, has represented Pakistan in 46 T20 Internationals, scoring 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries.

The squad includes four players Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Moaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood  who are in line to make their T20 International debuts for Pakistan.

Fourteen of the 15 selected players will also participate in the white-ball training camp scheduled to begin in Lahore on June 15.

Pakistan’s squad comprises captain Sahibzada Farhan, vice-captain Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Moaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan.

Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to consider major changes in team management and key appointments during an upcoming two-day meeting.

According to sources, the important meeting will be held on June 12 and 13 under the chairmanship of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where decisions regarding key posts and possible reshuffles are likely.

Officials said the board may also hold consultations ahead of the meeting, with several key discussions already underway.

Sources added that the future of Pakistan’s Test captaincy is expected to be a major agenda item, following the team’s poor performance in red-ball cricket.

Test captain Shan Masood could reportedly be replaced, while T20 captain Salman Ali Agha is being considered as a possible candidate to take over the Test side.
