LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence, robotic surgery, telemedicine and genomic research on global healthcare systems.

He was speaking at the Pakistan Medical Association’s International Medical Conference in Lahore on Saturday.

He said modern technology continues to reshape medical treatment and improve patient care across the world. However, he stressed that compassion, medical ethics and equal healthcare access must remain central to every healthcare system.

Focus on technology and human care:

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan urged medical professionals to balance innovation with humanity. He said doctors should embrace advanced tools while continuing to treat patients with dignity and care.

Moreover, he praised doctors, nurses and healthcare workers for their dedication during global health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said healthcare teams showed courage and commitment when communities faced fear and uncertainty. He added that medical workers set powerful examples of public service and saved countless lives through their tireless efforts.

    Punjab pushes major health reforms:

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also highlighted major healthcare reforms introduced by the Punjab government under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He said the administration continues to expand healthcare services in both cities and rural areas. According to him, the government currently operates 200 mobile clinics that provide free medical treatment to people across Punjab.

These clinics help patients who struggle to access hospitals and healthcare centers. In addition, the government continues to upgrade basic health units with modern equipment and improved medical facilities.

Officials aim to strengthen primary healthcare services and reduce pressure on major hospitals.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan further announced the introduction of a modern cancer treatment machine in Punjab.

He described the development as an important step toward improving specialized healthcare services in the province. He said the government wants to ensure better treatment options for cancer patients while strengthening the overall healthcare infrastructure.

The conference brought together medical experts, healthcare professionals and policymakers to discuss innovation, medical research and the future of healthcare in Pakistan.
