The National Assembly of Pakistan was informed that the country’s IT exports are expected to exceed $4.5 billion during the current fiscal year.

Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja said during the session that IT exports have increased by 20 percent and have doubled over the past few years. She also shared details about steps being taken to develop skilled human resources in the IT sector. Referring to the recent spectrum auction, she said 4G services will improve and 5G will be introduced in Islamabad and the four provincial capitals in the coming months.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the house that the National Disaster Management Authority has installed a modern system for timely weather forecasting, adding that the information is shared with provincial authorities to reduce damage from extreme weather.

Minister for Poverty Alleviation Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said the Benazir Income Support Program is providing financial support to more than ten million families.

During the session, two bills, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2026 and the Sea Carriage Shipping Documents Bill, 2026 were also presented in the house.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry rejected claims about Pakistanis being deported from the United Arab Emirates, saying both countries share strong relations. He added that Pakistan received its highest remittances this month from Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE.
