KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended Wednesday’s trading session on a bearish note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index losing 1,465 points amid broad-based selling pressure.

The KSE-100 Index declined by 0.87 percent to close at 167,451 points, slipping below the key psychological level of 168,000 points.

During the previous trading session, the benchmark index had settled at 168,916 points.

A total of 682 million shares were traded during the day, with the overall value of transactions amounting to Rs21 billion.

Shares of 562 companies were traded at the exchange. Of these, 149 companies recorded gains, 298 posted losses, while the share prices of the remaining companies remained unchanged.

Market analysts attributed the decline to profit-taking and cautious investor sentiment, which weighed on the benchmark index throughout the session.
