Here’s how to get the perfect manicure at home

Getting a perfect manicure at home is simple and can save both time and money if done the right way. You don’t need expensive tools, just a few basic items and a little care can give you salon-like results.

Start by removing any old nail polish using a gentle remover. Make sure your nails are completely clean before moving to the next step. Wash your hands with soap and warm water to remove any dirt or oil.

Next, trim your nails to your desired length using a nail cutter. After trimming, shape your nails with a nail file. You can choose a shape that suits your hands, such as round, square, or oval. Always file in one direction to avoid weakening your nails.

Soak your hands in a bowl of warm water for about 5–10 minutes. This helps to soften your cuticles and skin. After soaking, gently push back your cuticles using a cuticle pusher or a soft stick. Avoid cutting your cuticles, as this can lead to infections.

Now, exfoliate your hands using a mild scrub to remove dead skin. Rinse and dry your hands, then apply a good moisturizer or hand cream. You can also massage a few drops of cuticle oil into your nails to keep them healthy and hydrated.

Before applying nail polish, use a base coat. This step is important because it protects your nails and helps the polish last longer. Once the base coat dries, apply your nail polish in thin, even layers. Start from the center of the nail and then move to the sides. Let the first coat dry before applying a second coat for a richer color.

Finish with a top coat to add shine and prevent chipping. Allow your nails to dry completely to avoid smudging. You can also clean any extra polish around your nails using a cotton bud dipped in remover.

Finally, apply a little more cuticle oil or hand cream for a smooth and polished finish. With regular care and practice, you can achieve beautiful, salon-quality nails at home anytime.
