The operation was conducted in close coordination with law enforcement agencies after credible intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in the area.

Acting swiftly on the information security personnel launched a targeted operation leading to a prolonged and intense exchange of fire with the suspected militants.

During the engagement troops effectively targeted and eliminated all 22 militants. However, in a tragic turn of events, the militants resorted to indiscriminate firing, which resulted in the martyrdom of a 10-year-old child, highlighting the indiscriminate and reckless nature of such elements.

According to security officials a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants who were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities and attacks across the region. The recovery further underscores their operational capabilities and involvement in destabilising activities.

A comprehensive clearance operation is currently underway in the area to ensure the elimination of any remaining militants and to secure the region completely. The military has reiterated its unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and maintaining peace.

The ISPR further emphasised that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts, carried out under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy approved by the federal apex committee under the National Action Plan, will continue with full resolve to eliminate militancy and strengthen security across the country.

In a separate but related development, security forces also conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in the Kalat district of Balochistan. According to ISPR, the operation was launched on January 12, 2026, following reports of the presence of militants associated with the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan.

During the operation, four militants were killed after an exchange of fire with security forces. The military described the action as part of its broader efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in different parts of the country.

These back-to-back operations reflect the continued vigilance and operational readiness of Pakistan’s security forces in countering threats and ensuring national stability, despite evolving security challenges.
