Teams can now submit two separate Playing XIs before the toss, with the final XI locked in by the captain.

Cricket authorities have introduced a groundbreaking rule that gives team captains greater tactical flexibility, allowing them to submit two separate playing XIs ahead of every match.

Under the new regulation each captain must submit a sheet detailing 11 starting players along with four substitute players. In instances where both teams submit dual XIs, the final playing XI will be selected by the captains after the toss.

Once the final playing XI has been formally approved and signed by the captain, no further alterations will be permitted, ensuring clarity and fairness while adding a new layer of strategic depth to match preparations.

This change marks a significant evolution in match protocols, giving teams the ability to plan for contingencies while retaining competitive balance.
