Trump blasts NATO allies as cowards for not joining Iran war efforts

Trump said NATO countries could easily help restore maritime traffic in the strait but have failed to do so.

Washington: US President Donald Trump sharply criticized North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies for their lack of cooperation in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked by Iranian actions.

According to international news agencies, Trump said NATO countries could easily help restore maritime traffic in the strait but have failed to do so.

In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, he asserted that without the U.S., NATO is merely a “paper tiger.” He added that NATO members avoided taking part in measures against Iran’s nuclear threat.

Trump further noted that after the military success reduced the Iranian threat, these same NATO allies are now complaining about rising oil prices.

He emphasized that the primary reason for the surge in global oil prices is the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and reopening it is a straightforward military action. NATO countries could manage this route with minimal risk, he said, but they are shirking their responsibility.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime passages, carrying a significant portion of global oil. Its closure has led to fuel shortages and soaring prices worldwide.
