A Utah jury has convicted Kouri Richins of murder and multiple related charges in connection with the 2022 death of her husband, Eric Richins.

The eight-member panel deliberated for approximately three hours after closing arguments, ultimately finding her guilty of aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder stemming from a failed attempt to poison her husband on Valentine’s Day and charges of forgery and insurance fraud tied to her husband’s life insurance policies.

Prosecutors presented evidence over a 13-day trial, including testimonies from more than 40 witnesses who detailed alleged marital issues, an affair, and significant debt. The prosecution argued that these factors motivated Richins to administer a lethal dose of fentanyl to her husband.

Kouri Richins, who previously authored a children’s book on grief, bowed her head as the verdict was read. She faces potential life imprisonment without parole, with sentencing scheduled for May 13.

Her case has garnered significant attention, highlighting the tragic and complex circumstances surrounding her husband’s death.
