During the holy month of Ramadan, after a long day of fasting, nothing is more refreshing and soothing than a chilled Mint Margarita.

Popular in many regions, especially in Pakistan, this non-alcoholic drink is cherished for its cooling effect and digestive benefits, making it an ideal choice to break the fast (Iftar).

Why Mint Margarita Is a Ramadan Favorite

The Mint Margarita is more than just a thirst quencher. Its ingredients fresh mint, citrus, and black salt help rehydrate the body, soothe the stomach, and ease digestion after a day without food or water. Its vibrant, refreshing taste provides a quick energy lift while keeping you cool in warm climates.

    Ingredients

To make 2-3 servings of Mint Margarita, you will need:

    • Fresh Mint Leaves: 1 cup
    • Lemon/Lime Juice: 3-4 tbsp
    • Sweetener: 2-3 tbsp sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
    • Salt: ½ tsp black salt (kala namak) and a pinch of regular salt
    • Soda: 500ml–1L cold lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7Up)
    • Ice: Plenty of crushed ice
    • Optional: A pinch of ginger powder or fresh ginger for enhanced digestion.

    Preparation Method

In a blender, combine fresh mint leaves, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and a small amount of water or soda until smooth.

Add a generous amount of crushed ice and pour in the remaining soda. Pulse briefly to mix.

Serve immediately in glasses, garnished with extra mint leaves and lemon slices.

    Tips for Ramadan

Healthier Version: Use sugar-free soda or skip sugar entirely for a lower-calorie alternative.

Digestive Boost: Add ginger powder or fresh ginger to aid digestion after fasting.

Quick Prep: Ready in under 5 minutes, perfect for last-minute Iftar preparations.

Mint Margarita not only hydrates but also provides a cooling sensation and helps prevent bloating. Its combination of citrus and mint makes it a flavorful, energizing, and stomach-friendly beverage, ensuring a refreshing start to your evening meal.
