China has urgently called for an immediate ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan as recent hostilities threaten regional stability.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized China’s ongoing efforts to mediate the conflict, stating that Beijing remains committed to fostering dialogue and reducing hostilities.

She noted that China’s diplomatic channels are working closely with authorities in both Afghanistan and Pakistan to prevent further bloodshed.

The call for restraint follows a series of clashes, including Pakistan’s recent bombing of key Afghan cities such as Kabul, and subsequent Pakistani military strikes against Afghan border positions.

The Chinese government expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence, which has alarmed Beijing and prompted active diplomatic engagement with both nations.

These exchanges occurred after Afghan military operations targeted Pakistani forces in response to air strikes carried out by Islamabad.

Mao Ning highlighted China’s strong ties with both countries, describing Pakistan as a vital partner in regional development and reaffirming Beijing’s friendly relationship with Afghanistan.

She stressed China’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens, projects, and diplomatic missions amid the ongoing turmoil.

In addition to China’s efforts, Russia has also urged both Afghanistan and Pakistan to cease cross-border attacks immediately. According to RIA news agency, Moscow expressed its willingness to consider offering mediation if both sides request it, emphasizing the importance of resolving differences through diplomatic channels.
