WASHINGTON: A severe blizzard in the northeastern United States has not only disrupted daily life but also forced the suspension of a major newspaper’s print edition for the first time in 153 years.

According to international media, the storm, named ‘Noreaster’, brought record snowfall and strong winds, causing airport runways to close and thousands of flights to be canceled.

Millions of homes also lost electricity due to the extreme weather. In some areas, snow accumulation reached two to two-and-a-half feet, prompting local authorities to declare emergencies.

The historic storm impacted The Boston Globe, preventing it from printing its edition for the first time in over a century. Heavy snowfall blocked roads, making it impossible for employees to reach the printing press, effectively halting publication.

Officials continue to warn residents to stay indoors as rescue and recovery operations proceed across the affected northeastern states.
