Karachi: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), cold and dry weather continues to prevail across most regions of Pakistan, with severe winter conditions affecting the northern and mountainous areas.

Northeastern Punjab is expected to witness pockets of dense fog, while Islamabad and its surroundings will experience chilly and dry weather throughout the day.

Gilgit-Baltistan is under intense cold, with partly cloudy skies in some areas. Light rain and scattered snowfall are forecasted tonight and into tomorrow for Chitral, Dir, and adjoining high-altitude regions. The upper reaches of Murree and Galiyat are also experiencing severe cold and dry conditions.

In Mansehra, precipitation and snowfall have temporarily ceased, but the region continues to endure bitterly cold temperatures. The administration has intensified snow removal operations in Kaghan and Shogran valleys, while the upper reaches of Kunash and Saran Valleys remain in the grip of icy conditions.

Power supply disruptions persist in several areas due to heavy snow and rainfall. Tourist areas are crowded with visitors eager to enjoy the winter spectacle, and authorities have advised drivers to equip their vehicles with snow chains for safe travel.

Swat has seen a pause in rainfall and snowfall since yesterday, with clear skies over Mingora and surrounding highlands. Snow-clearing operations continue in Malam Jabba and Kalam, with main roads being restored and electricity supply largely resumed.

In Qalat, the recent snowfall has intensified the cold, with temperatures dropping to -7°C in the past 24 hours. Daily life remains severely impacted by the extreme chill.

PMD has cautioned that the cold spell will persist across the country, urging citizens and tourists to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and take all necessary precautions against icy roads and hazardous conditions.
