Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for widespread rainfall and snowfall across several regions of the country from tonight through Tuesday, January 26, 2026.

A new western weather system is entering the country’s western regions tonight, bringing heavy showers and snow to northern and high-altitude areas. By Monday, the system is expected to affect additional parts of the country.

    Regional Forecasts:

Balochistan: Quetta, Ziarat, Pashin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall with snowfall in higher-altitude areas. Rain is also expected in Nushki, Loralai, Zhob, Qalat, Barkhan, and Sibi.

Upper Sindh: Sukkur, Dadu, Larkana, and Jacobabad are likely to see rainfall.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Diamer, Astore, Skardu, Shigar, Hunza, Ghanche, and Gilgit are expected to receive rainfall and mountain snowfall, with certain areas potentially experiencing heavy snow.

Kashmir: Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Rawalakot, and Haveli may witness rainfall and snowfall in hilly regions.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Batagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Bannu, Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Bajaur, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan are forecasted to receive rainfall and snowfall in mountainous areas.

Islamabad: Rainfall and snowfall are expected in Islamabad, Murree, and Galiyat.

Punjab: Rawalpindi and Chakwal may also experience rainfall and snowfall. Light to moderate rainfall is forecasted in Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Layyah, and Bhakkar, with thunderstorms possible in some areas.

Qalat: Following heavy snowfall two days ago, Qalat city and its surrounding areas remain gripped by extreme cold, with temperatures dropping to -8°C. Daily life has been disrupted, roads remain largely deserted, and residents are advised to stay indoors.

The PMD has urged citizens to exercise caution while traveling and take necessary precautions against the cold, wet, and slippery conditions.
