Islamabad: A joint session of Parliament will be held today, with a seven-point agenda issued for the sitting.

According to parliamentary sources, the session will take up several important legislative measures for approval, including the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Bill 2025, the National Commission for Human Rights Bill 2025, and the Danish Schools Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025.

The Domestic Violence (Amendment) Bill 2025 is expected to draw particular attention, as the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has previously raised objections to the proposed legislation. The bill was introduced in the National Assembly by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) member Sharmila Faruqui.

While the National Assembly has already passed the domestic violence bill, it could not secure approval from the Senate earlier, prompting its presentation before the joint session.

The outcome of today’s session is expected to be significant for the government’s legislative agenda, especially on issues related to human rights and social protection.
