Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory completes frame-by-frame analysis of video evidence submitted by Peshawar Police

    • January 11, 2026

Peshawar: The Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory has completed a comprehensive forensic examination of video footage linked to the May 9 incidents, submitting a detailed analytical report to the authorities.

The report confirms the on-site presence of Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, Kamran Bangash, Taimur Jhagra, and Irfan Saleem during the events in question.

The forensic assessment was carried out at the request of Peshawar Police and involved an in-depth review of audiovisual material provided for verification.

According to the findings, the investigation was conducted on video files stored in a USB device forwarded by Sharki Police Station, Peshawar.

Sixteen separate videos were subjected to meticulous, frame-by-frame scrutiny. Several recordings were found to be free from any signs of manipulation, while a few clips revealed the insertion of logos and textual overlays.

The report further highlights that in two videos involving Suhail Afridi and Irfan Saleem, indications of clip splicing were detected. To establish identity, forensic experts compared profile photographs of the individuals with the persons appearing in the footage, confirming a match in the cases of Suhail Afridi, Irfan Saleem, Kamran Bangash, and Taimur Jhagra.

The laboratory emphasized that the scope of the analysis remained confined strictly to visual evidence. The forensic review process was carried out between December 19 and December 23, 2025.

The development comes after the Anti-Terrorism Court sought a forensic report from police in the Radio Pakistan attack case, prompting the transfer of the relevant video material to the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory for expert examination.
