In a significant move, Pakistan has granted official approval for the resumption of direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi, re-establishing a vital air link between the two nations.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has authorized Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national carrier of Bangladesh, to operate non-stop services on this route, after nearly a decade of no scheduled commercial flights.

Official Approval: Following the consent of the federal government, the CAA has granted permission for Biman Bangladesh Airlines to operate direct flights on the Dhaka-Karachi route until March 30, 2026.

Flight Operations: The airline will operate along designated routes within Pakistan’s airspace and must submit complete flight details to Karachi Airport authorities before departure.

Airport Slot Allocation: Karachi Airport has approved slots for the Bangladesh airline, ensuring smooth operations.

Commencement: Flights are expected to commence later this month, marking the revival of this crucial air link.

Direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Karachi has been missing since February 2015, when Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) last operated flights on this route.

The approval to Biman Bangladesh Airlines signals the revival of a key transportation corridor, enhancing people-to-people connectivity and facilitating economic and cultural exchanges.

This move is poised to bring considerable benefits, strengthening ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, and offering more opportunities for trade, tourism, and bilateral cooperation.

The renewed connectivity is expected to bolster the aviation sectors of both countries, offering a significant boost to travel and economic relations.
