Diabetes is a condition that cannot be managed through medication alone. Health experts stress that long-term control requires meaningful changes in lifestyle, diet, and daily habits.

According to medical specialists, consuming low–glycemic index (GI) foods, maintaining a balanced diet, and engaging in regular physical activity play a crucial role in keeping blood sugar levels stable. In this context, experts have identified roasted chickpeas as a healthy and effective breakfast option for people living with diabetes.

Health professionals say roasted chickpeas are not only rich in essential nutrients but also help regulate blood sugar levels. Research cited by the National Library of Medicine indicates that chickpeas have a low glycemic index, meaning they release glucose slowly into the bloodstream. In contrast, high-GI foods cause a rapid spike in blood sugar, which can be harmful for diabetic patients.

The fiber and protein content in chickpeas helps balance insulin release, ensuring the body produces only the amount of insulin it actually needs. This mechanism supports stable blood sugar levels and reduces sudden fluctuations.

Experts also highlight that chickpeas are rich in dietary fiber, which improves digestion and slows the absorption of sugar into the blood. Fiber supports gut health and promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria, both of which are important for overall metabolic health.

Additionally, the protein found in chickpeas helps strengthen muscles and provides a longer-lasting feeling of fullness, reducing cravings for unhealthy snacks. This is particularly important for people with diabetes who need to manage both blood sugar and weight.

Roasted chickpeas also contain essential minerals such as magnesium and potassium. Magnesium improves insulin sensitivity, while potassium supports proper nerve and muscle function and helps regulate blood pressure. Since many diabetic patients also suffer from high blood pressure, chickpeas can help manage
