LONDON: Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday led a high-level parliamentary delegation in Westminster to brief the All-Party parliamentary Group (APPG) on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)

Bilawal informed them regarding the recent Pakistan-India war, escalating regional instability and worsening human rights abuses in IIOJK.

The delegation expressed deep concern over India’s recent military aggression — including their unprovoked strikes on civilian areas in IIOJK and illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. This move posed a direct threat to regional peace and violates international law.

“The unresolved IIOJK dispute remains the core issue fuelling instability in the region. India’s unilateral and illegal measure of August 5, 2019 — including the abrogation of Article 370, along with subsequent repressive actions, have deepened the alienation of the Kashmiri people and significantly heightened regional tensions,” the delegation noted.

Highlighting the systemic suppression of Kashmiris, arbitrary detentions, demographic changes, and restrictions on freedom of expression in IIOJK, the delegation urged the United Kingdom (UK) to support the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Bilawal led team thanked the APPG for consistently advocating on Kashmir issue by consistently advocating for the rights and dignity of the Kashmiri people.

The delegation reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause in line with UN Security Council Resolutions.
