Hollywood star Dakota Johnson took a leaf out of the late Princess Diana’s book when she stepped out in New York recently for the first time after reports surfaced that she had split from longtime boyfriend Chris Martin.
Dakota and Martin broke up and reconciled several times and were long rumored to have been engaged. This week it was reported that their latest split “feels final.”
Amid the breakup rumors, The Fifty Shades of Grey star was spotted wearing a bold dress, leaving little to the imagination, as she appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Her dress was seen as a revenge dress by multiple publications, with which the actress seemed to confirm the reports that she had parted ways with the Coldplay frontman.
For those unaware, revenge dressing is a phrase coined in the 1990s after Princess Diana famously stepped out in a shoulder-baring black mini dress the same night her husband Prince Charles (now King Charles) admitted to infidelity.
Celebrities have long chosen the revenge dressing to make statements on their relationship status without uttering a word publicly.
Speaking of Diana, Chris Martin has had a friendly relationship with her son, Prince Harry, supporting the royal’s Invictus Games initiative which aims to help wounded veterans.
The involvement of Dakota’s boyfriend with Harry’s initiative dates back to 2014 when he composed the Invictus Anthem.
