    • Elahi, Qureshi continue to face multiple FIRs related to May violence.
    • Report discusses involvement of Imran, accuses him of planning May 9 events.

ISLAMABAD: The names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Deputy Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi are notably absent from a cabinet committee report prepared by the caretaker government regarding the alleged incitement of violence on May 9, 2023.

The report, which was presented before the current federal cabinet, details the alleged roles of several PTI leaders in the attacks on military installations.

While it discusses the involvement of PTI founder Imran Khan and accuses him of actively planning the events of May 9, Elahi and Qureshi’s names do not appear in any capacity. Despite this, both leaders continue to face multiple FIRs related to the May 9 incidents.

The report highlights how dozens of PTI leaders allegedly incited violence, leading to what has been described as an unprecedented attack on state institutions.

The omission of Elahi and Qureshi from the caretaker government’s findings raises questions, particularly as both remain entangled in legal battles linked to the May violence.

Besides Imran, those named in the report for different reasons connected with May 9 include Hammad Azhar, Zartaj Gul, Murad Saeed, Farrukh Habib, Ali Amin Gandapur, Ali Zaidi, Anam Sheikh, Shandana Gulzar Khan, Kanwal Shauzab, Senator Ejaz Chaudhary, Faisal Javed, Shahryar Afridi, Omar Malik, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Zubair Niazi, and Umar Cheema.

It also includes Hassaan Niazi, Ayesha Iqbal, Aliya Hamza, Munazza Hassan, Mussarat Cheema, Aleema Khan, Nosheen Hamid, Sadaqat Abbasi, Wasiq Qayyum, Umer Butt, Jehangir Butt, Raja Usman, Atif Qureshi, Muslim Khan, Zeeshan Mumtaz, Qaiser Khan, Zaki Butt, Malik Abid, Seemabia Tahir, Asif Mehmood, Tayyaba Ibrahim, Shabana Fayyaz, Azhar Mir, Haseeb Naqvi, Jamal Cheema, Bao Akram, Shabbir Mahar, Ali Ashraf Mughal, Mahar M Sadiq, Rizwan Butt, Umar Ashraf, Ansar Natt, Najaf Shirazi, Rana Zakaullah, Asadullah Pappa, Amjad Ali Khan, Malik Ahmad Khan Bachar, Amjad Ali Khan, Malik Ahmad Khan, Saleem Gul Khan, Ameer Khan Swansi, Alam Khan, Ameenullah Khan, Khalid Wazir, Amir Mughal, Chaudhary Jehangir, Wajahat Sami, Khalid Khan, Raja Shahid Nawaz, Malik Amir Dogar, Saleem Akhtar Labar, Nadeem Qureshi, Khalid Javed Warraich, Khurram Liaquat and Zain Qureshi.
