Julie Andrews has won her second consecutive Emmy for voicing Lady Whistledown on Netflix’s Bridgerton, taking home Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday, September 6.
The 90-year-old actress was not in attendance, with presenter Eric Bauza accepting the award on her behalf.
She beat out a field that included Pamela Adlon for King of the Hill, Hank Azaria for The Simpsons, Trey Parker for South Park, Matt Vogel for The Muppet Show and Steven Yeun for Invincible.
The win adds to Bridgerton‘s growing Emmy history, the series has now won seven Emmys total, including two for Andrews’s voice work alongside five wins for period costume and hairstyling.
Despite voicing the show’s unseen narrator since its first season, Andrews has never actually met the cast in person, recording her lines separately from the rest of production.
“You know, I’ve never met the company in person,” she said in a 2022 Today interview.
“Of course, I see them on the show sometimes, but I do all my own recording far, far away from them.”
Last year’s win made her the oldest woman ever to receive a Primetime Emmy, at age 89, a record she has now extended.
Andrews’s win comes shortly after she confirmed she won’t appear in the upcoming Princess Diaries sequel, telling The Hollywood Reporter in August that she considers herself largely finished with on-screen acting.
“I think the absolute truth is that I think I’m really past all that now. I’m not completely retired, but it’s a different kind of work that I do these days, [writing] books, and I do a lot of recording of podcasts and voiceover.”
Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes, who previously worked with Andrews on The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, celebrated the Emmy win on social media, writing, “I have such fond memories with Ms. Andrews, and I’ve seen every one of her films! Truly, I can watch her read a phone book, she’s that phenomenal. I’m so grateful she brought her magic to Bridgerton!”
