Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly turned down an offer from the Duke of Sussex’s uncle, Charles Spencer, to use a historic lodge at the Spencer family’s Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire as they consider their future in Britain.

According to a report by Naughty But Nice, Charles Spencer, the brother of the late Princess Diana, offered the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the possibility of staying at The Falconry, a 17th-century lodge located on the Althorp Estate.

The report said Harry was deeply moved by the gesture because Althorp holds significant personal and family memories for him.

However, the couple reportedly decided that the property did not meet their requirements as they consider finding a more suitable home in the United Kingdom.

Royal commentator Rob Shuter, citing an unnamed source, said Harry appreciated the emotional significance of the offer, while Meghan was concerned about the property’s location and amenities.

“Harry was genuinely moved because Althorp will always be sacred ground to him,” the source reportedly said.

The source claimed Meghan considered the estate too remote and too far from London, while also believing it did not offer the level of luxury and space the couple was seeking.

“Meghan isn’t moving back to Britain to hide away in an old lodge in Northamptonshire,” the insider reportedly said, adding that the couple wanted privacy, security, substantial space and convenient access to London.

Althorp is particularly significant to Harry because it was where Princess Diana grew up and where she was later buried.

The report characterized the decision as a difference in priorities, with Harry reportedly seeing the offer as an opportunity to reconnect with family memories, while Meghan was said to be more focused on location, privacy and living arrangements.
