Punjab introduces new facility to track driving license delivery

Punjab authorities have decided to integrate the Pakistan Post delivery system with the Traffic Police’s Driving License Information Management System, or DLIMS, to address delays in the delivery of driving license cards.

Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to track their driving license cards online and check their current locations.

Currently, DLIMS only shows whether a license card is being processed or printed. Once the two systems are connected, applicants will also be able to see when the card is handed over by the traffic police to Pakistan Post, its delivery status and its current location.

Officials said the traffic police also face difficulties tracking license delivery information under the existing system.

The Punjab Information Technology Board, or PITB, has been contacted to help integrate the two systems.

Authorities expect the new system to improve monitoring and transparency and help ensure that driving license cards are delivered to citizens within the prescribed time.
