Pierce Thiot also contributed to campaigns connected to “The Devil Wears Prada 2”.

Pierce Thiot, a 40-year-old creative executive at Ryan Reynold’s production and marketing company, died suddenly at his home in Orem, Utah, leaving colleagues and the advertising world mourning a creative talent known for memorable campaigns.

It was reported Friday, Aug. 28, said Thiot’s cause of death was a pulmonary embolism, a serious condition that occurs when a blood clot blocks blood flow to the lungs.

Thiot built a career in advertising and creative direction, eventually becoming an important part of Maximum Effort’s team. The company was co-founded by actor Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey and is known for combining entertainment with creative marketing.

Thiot was a two time Emmy nominated creative director, his career included work as an art director. At Maximum Effort, Thiot served as head of creative brand. He helped develop advertising and entertainment campaigns for several major companies and became known for turning simple ideas into attention grabbing stories.

His recent work included DoorDash’s 2026 Super Bowl campaign featuring rapper 50 Cent. He also contributed to campaigns connected to “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” L’Oreal Paris, Lancome and TJ Maxx.

Beyond his professional achievements, he married photographer and entrepreneur Stacy Thiot in 2008. The couple had two children, Adelaide and Jackson.

Thiot’s work will remain part of the advertising and entertainment projects he helped create, while those closest to him remember the person behind the ideas. His sudden passing has brought renewed attention to a creative career that made an impact in a relatively short time.
