Chishti tells industrialists in Karachi meeting that 490 feeders are exempt from load-shedding as utility pushes transmission upgrades.
KARACHI: K-Electric Chairman Shaharyar Chishti said Saturday the utility is working to enhance power transmission and service quality across Karachi, assuring uninterrupted electricity for residents and industrial consumers.
Speaking at a meeting with the office bearers of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), Chishti acknowledged challenges but expressed confidence in overcoming them.
“We are continuously improving our transmission standards,” Chishti said. “Our team is working to further elevate service quality.”
Chishti, who noted he has worked in multiple countries, emphasized Karachi’s economic potential as a port city and described local industrialists as the best customers.
He said K-Electric has implemented no load-shedding on 490 feeders dedicated to industrial zones. Any reduction in electricity tariffs, he added, would directly benefit Karachi’s residents.
“We are here to listen to industrialists if they have any issues,” Chishti said.
The chairman also pointed to the efforts of KE managements over the last two decades to strengthen the utility and cited the establishment of LNG plants in Pakistan as an example of infrastructure development in the energy sector.
“Challenges exist, but we are hopeful we will emerge from them,” he said.
