ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces on Friday, Aug.14,  congratulated the nation on its 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the country’s founders, martyrs and veterans while reaffirming their resolve to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty, uphold the Constitution and safeguard its national interests, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The joint message was issued on behalf of the Armed Forces of Pakistan by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

The military leadership paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the country’s founding fathers and all those whose sacrifices led to the creation of Pakistan.

According to the military’s media wing, their vision, courage and determination continue to guide the nation and inspire Pakistanis to follow the country’s principles and ideals.

The Armed Forces also honored Pakistan’s martyrs, veterans, law enforcement personnel and citizens who have served the country. Their courage and selfless service have strengthened Pakistan’s resilience and helped protect its independence, security and national interests, the statement said.

The military leadership reaffirmed its commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats. It also pledged to uphold the Constitution and fulfill the trust placed in the armed forces by the people.

The statement said the Armed Forces, together with the nation, would continue working to preserve peace and stability and create conditions for national progress and prosperity.

“As guardians of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering resolve to defend the motherland against all threats, uphold the Constitution and discharge the sacred trust reposed in them by the people of Pakistan,” the statement said.

The military leadership also called for national unity, saying Pakistan’s strength lies in the collective resolve of its people. It urged the nation to renew its commitment to the principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline.

The leadership further called for stronger national cohesion, greater tolerance and continued efforts to build a secure, stable and prosperous Pakistan.

The statement concluded with messages of solidarity with the nation and the country, “Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad! Pakistan Hamesha Paindabad!”
